Prezi is a great tool for anyone who needs to create presentations that look good and are filled with functionality. However, many people who use this tool aren’t taking advantage of all the features Prezi has. Ready to up your presentation game? Here are five tips to create better presentations with Prezi.
Use the right templates
Let’s face it. Sometimes you just want to get down to business, put your presentation together and go. The good news? Prezi has templates that allow you to do exactly that. To find these templates. You can go beyond “general” templates and choose a template that is designed for your specific presentation type. Some categories include marketing and education + non-profit. To find a template
- Login to Prezi, then click new presentation
- Locate the category that matches your presentation type on the right side
- Click on the template you’d like to start with
- From the window that appears, select “use this template”
Create custom colors
When you’re using free tools online, you’ll find that most of them really limit your customization options. Prezi gives you a bit more creative freedom. You can use their color picker to create custom colors that fit with your brand or vision.
- To do this, select an element of your presentation
- Next, go to the backgrounds & themes panel and click on the fill color option
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and locate custom color
- Click on the color wheel
- From the color window, create your color
- Click add to custom colors
- Select Ok.
- Now your custom color will appear on the element
Use Prezi’s Icons
Before you start frantically Googling for resources, take a step back. Prezi has a library of icons for you to add to your presentation. Choose the light or dark option to find the best images for your presentation.
- To do this, go to insert then icons and symbols
- Next, locate the icons panel on the left side of the screen
- Select either light or dark
- Locate an icon you want to use
- Drag it into place
- Resize and move the element until you’re happy with the placement
Add a YouTube video
Video is one of the number one things that you can use to increase engagement. If you don’t have your own video that you can upload, you can add a YouTube video.
- To do this, go to insert, then video
- Next, locate the video panel on the right side of the screen
- Enter the URL of the YouTube video you want to use in the box and click insert
- Resize and move the element until you’re happy with the placement
Note: If you are presenting offline, the video you add will not be available during the presentation.
Use Animations
If you aren’t using animations on Prezi, you’re missing out on a visual element that can take your presentations to the next level. Here’s how you can use animations
- To do this, go to insert, then click animation
- Next, locate the animation panel on the left side of the screen
- Select an element of your presentation
- Click the “+” sign
- If you want a fade, select fade in or fade out
- If you want to zoom, select add a zoom area
- Click the play button next to your new animation in the animation panel to test your animation
